Abstract

Aloe vera leaves and gel have been used since ancient times. The beneficial medicinal, cosmetic and nutritional effects have been described empirically by many users but there are not too many scientific experiments that validate all the information. Various sources in the literature describe the ability of the gel to quickly heal wounds and stimulate macrophages in the immune system. It is also known that anthraquinones in the parenchyma and cortex have laxative, antifungal and antimicrobial qualities. According to these studies, it can be stated that the medicinal, cosmetic and nutritional properties of the Aloe vera plant are due to the bioactive molecules synthesized by the plant.
