Abstract

In the case of the Legionary Movement we could talk about a redefining of an identity of nationalism, which psychologically starts from “inside” of it, in order to transpose itself in the immediate historical plane. The morality proposed by the Legionary Movement is theoretically subsumed to Christian moral. The main doctrinal characteristics of Romanian Legionarism was anti-Communism, anti-Parliamentarianism, anti-Liberalism and anti-individualism, the organicistic collectivism, the cult of the leader, anti-Marxism, the need for moral and spiritual revolution, the cult of the elite and of the new man; but also practices derived from the doctrine: mysticism, conspiratorial organization, quasi-religious rituals, the cult of death and sacrifice, the cult of martyrs, the belief in the legionary generation’s mission to solve the Jewish “problem”, Messianism, the moral regeneration.
