Abstract

The cult of personality is an essential component of the communist regime. If the elements of Nicolae Ceausescu’s cult of personality are wellknown, this kind of researches about Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej is still at the beginning. The author analyses, based on the elements found in the press of the time, the genesis of Dej’s cult of personality, its ideological content, and the ways in which the communist leader knew how to use it.
