Metoace ale Sfântului Munte în România și Republica Moldova. Referire specială la metoacele mănăstirilor Vatoped și Ivir

Abstract

The study presents an interesting and unknown issue connected to the economic life of the Holy Mountain, until the 1860’s: the foundation and the management of over 150 romanian monasteries (with theirs domains, forests, vineyards, fish ponds etc.) which Athos had as subordinated (metokion) in Wallachia, Moldavia and Bessarabia till the Secularization Law of the monastery possessions, issued by Cuza. The arguments of this “worship”, are analyzed, some statistics are achieved and are listed the great Athonite monasteries that had metokions in the Romanian Countries.
