Verification of Initial Information and the Initiation of Criminal Proceedings in Cases of Crimes Against Sexual Life

Abstract

Crimes against sexual life have acquired distinct features in the context of socio-economic changes, influencing the manner in which they are prepared, committed, and concealed. Nevertheless, the forensic support of the investigation of such crimes remains, in essence, similar to earlier practices and does not fully meet the requirements of contemporary judicial practice. At the same time, new types of crimes are emerging, marked by pronounced subjective and objective characteristics. The global digitalization of society has generated additional challenges: the use of the Internet, social networks, and messaging applications enables offenders to select victims and carry out preparatory actions in a concealed manner. In this context, the investigation of sexual crimes increasingly involves the seizure of electronic media and the identification of digital traces. Consequently, investigative issues acquire a complex character, necessitating the development and implementation of an integrated approach encompassing organizational, legal, scientific-technical, tactical-forensic, and methodological measures. The article highlights the specific subjective and objective characteristics of new types of sexual crimes, demonstrating that traditional forensic methodologies no longer fully correspond to modern requirements. The study contributes to the development of integrated measures, including organizational, legal, scientific-technical, and tactical-forensic strategies, which enhance investigative efficiency and enable the optimal collection of digital evidence. The research findings allow for the identification and application of the most effective practices for verifying information and establishing the factual circumstances of the crimes committed, positively influencing both the perception and the application of methodologies for investigating sexual crimes.
