Abstract

In this paper, I investigate an important aspect of Descartes’ natural philosophy: what is the role of experiment, and how it is founded? I argue in favor of the integration of the experiment in the Cartesian method. In this way, the experiment is understood as being founded on the metaphysical principles. Since these principles are given only for one person (cogito), then the experiment cannot have a universal certainty.
