Abstract

In the German and Austrian culture from the beginning of the XX century, Schönberg, the representative of expressionism in music, took a post-romantic subjectivity in order to freeze its tension and turn it into mere construction, exacerbated the tension of subjectivity in order to reach at its disfiguration. His works, over which Hanslick’s shadow providentially dominates, embody the paradox of affective acuity, doubled by an extreme lucidity like ice flowers descending from the height of the grey sky.
