Abstract

Along with the Ordinal and the Gospel, Euchologion also, is part of the “liturgical props’’ absolutely necessary for the priest ministry. Euchologion contains the canonical argumentations, the liturgical prescriptions and ordinances of sacraments,
related to the Holy Gifts and prayers. In Romanian language, the first edition of Euchologion was translated and printed by Deacon Coresi, in 1581, based on the collections of manuscripts, prior chronologically.
In the 430 years from 1581 until 2011 it appeared, at the Râmnic, Târgovişte, Bucureşti, Iaşi, Neamţ, Blaj, Sibiu and Braşov printers, over 65 editions of Euchologion, in Romanian language. The analytical comparative study related to the Holy Baptism and the Sacrament of Marriage, contained in this editions, shows that, in terms of ritualistic, and also of linguistic and theological content, the differences are minimal from one edition to another. It finds a natural evolution of Romanian liturgical language and a continuous concern of publishers (bishops, monks, scholars) for a better indication of movements, processes and liturgical rites.
We underline the beauty of the text edition removed by Saint Metropolitan Dosoftei (Iasi, 1681), as well as the completed form of Romanian language from the edition of the Saint Metropolitan Anthim the Iberian (Târgovişte, 1706), which is perpetuated to this day; several editions shine through a typographical printing of exception: Râmnic – 1782 and Braşov – 1811.
