Abstract
We wanted this show about cats, played only by students, to be full
of colors and lights, so we blended the concept of colors with the realistic
vision. The sets were designed to portray a night in the streets of New York
with realistic elements, such as: a small replica of the Gapstow bridge from
Central Park, skyscrapers drawn on black curtains, old wheels or garbage
cans. They were all “brought to life” by fluorescent paints.
All costumes had a common concept: ballet body with fur attached to it, to
create the look of a real cat. They were all individualized, as well as the make-up.
We created a vivid show with both new and traditional elements of setting.
