Abstract

Every literary character hides beneath its identity a certain model that refers to a cultural era which the author of a literary text would like to
reflect in his text. His image though, does not reflect the exact reality, but it determines it to be in a thight bond with it. The research that I propose, entitled ”Ieronim and his portretical manifestation – model vs. Image” regards a deep analisys upon the character of Ieronim from the short story ”Cezara” written by Mihai Eminescu. The requirement of our work is to ilustrate the Romantic canon”s directions from this period as its ways of achievent. The portrait of the mask, Ieronim, will be observed, seen through the ”technique of the paralel mirrors” by the ”painter” Mihai Eminescu, Cezara and Onufrei. Also, I will approach the relationship between the model used by the writer and the image transposed by him in the short story. The starting point of the image prezented is important so that later on can be observed the way by which the original suffers a certain dissociation in the imagistical representation of the work. In this way a thight bond is created between the cultural context and the portrait where the writer tries to reflect a certain panorama of a certain period.
