Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the dual role of visual and verbal discourse, of ambiguity and polysemy, which are omnipresent in the
Romanian landscape of Mircea Eliade’s fantasy novel ”Miss Christina”. This essay intents to prove that the chosen narrative text summarizes
different means of execution‐expression, inside a piece of writing that is capable to explore the temporal determined imaginary universe, the texts being subject to a chronosyntax, while the image to a toposyntax. Specific analysis tools are used (such as literary, artistic, musical and hermeneutial analysis) to emphasize the shift from a verbal register to a visual one, asymptotically structured, but also to discover the ekphrasis phemomenon that is related to the image captured in its ephemeral state. The expected result is to reassemble the narrative of Eliadeʹs work, trying to isolate the passing from the literary form of narration to the artistic one. The novelty of this investigation consists in comparing and contrasting these two types of discourses, their relationship with the language of art, from an interand transdisciplinary perspective, by promoting a multidimensional analysis model of approach to literature
