Abstract

The period of communism imposed in the Romanian literature and culture the notion of "new folklore" by encouraging folk "creations" having as character the party activists and the leading workers, or tackling themes such as liberation from the fascist / bourgeois-yoke yoke or the great achievements of Romanian socialism. This type of indoctrination, which promotes human models that reproduce the new man's hypostases, approved by the regime of the single party, has led to changes that marked - or even damaged - the authentic folklore, attempting to adapt the old traditions to the new life. Besides ballads or legends that have undergone significant changes, the most affected by propaganda were the carols and the popular theater, where the introduction of new characters was easier, and the disappearance of religious themes was a priority.
