Abstract

The success story of this Romanian series can be summarized in a single sentence: what was initially conceived as a 30-page novel and presented to the German publisher Fischer, was developed step by step, a broad and valuable literary scenario , over 2000 pages, successfully published by Zsolnay Publishing House: 1998 The beheaded rooster (translated into Romanian in 2007), 2000 Red gloves (translated into Romanian in 2011), 2005 Piano in the fog (translated into Romanian) in 2014), by Schiller Publishing House in 2012 Odem and Mein Nachbar, der König (not translated yet in Romanian), by Pop Publishing House 2018 Wasserzeichen (not yet translated in Romanian), which enters the history of literature. The spatial framework of these works focuses on Transylvania, even though the Banat and the Old Kingdom are used as a basis for comparison. The time period covers the period from 1942 to 1960, and the first-person narrator's family history is intertwined with historical events. However, the novels are not published chronologically for the actual events: The red gloves, which the book market offers as the second novel, are in fact the end of the series.
