Abstract

This study is trying to highlight the way in which the mythological elements and those of the local fairytale, Povestea lui Harap Alb are metabolized in Marian Coman' s series, Haiganu, a fantasy type of text, published in 2015.
To begin with, we are going to analyse the matter of the general confusion regarding fantasy as a narrative form and its adjacent genres. Then, following the primary world-portal-secondary world axis, the study is focused on exploring the way in which the dominant significance layers provided by the relationship between characters and the norms that impose the general order of the two fictional worlds are overlapped.
To conclude, we will reveal the way in which such secondary worlds are turning back to reality in order to enrich it with new meanings, Creangă's characters being merely suggestions for Marian Coman, who exploits their defining features in a register, totally opposed to the one practiced by the moldovan storyteller.
