Abstract

Human being has an urgent need for symbols to bring the unknown, the mystery, into the realm of the tangible. But perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that a whole world of symbols lives in us. Often, there has been a kind of equality between the metaphor and the symbol. And yet, the metaphor can be taken out of context, instead, the symbol can only be conceived only in the context in which a certain aspect of the symbolic image is energized. One of the symbols that often appear in the Sorescian work is the circle. This sublime, fluid form that holds in a limited Universe a community with all its traditions. Closed in itself, without beginning and without end, perfect, the circle is the sign of the absolute: and he and the village represent perfection, homogeneity, is the symbol of the eternal return to the beginning, of the cyclicality that is found in nature in the form of the seasons.
