Résumé

This paper analyzes the cultural geography and identity of the Romanian writer Octavian Paler, his native village, a privileged topos. The writer mirrors the vehement contrast between the poverty of the peasant space and its spiritual charge. His confessional literaturereveals that he takes pride inhaving been born in Lisa, his native village, which receives connotations of a super-character in the work of Octavian Paler, the writer affirming everywhere that he comes from the best of all possible worlds, from a rural utopia. The places of identity retreat from Octavian Paler's memoirs, his privileged topos, the spaces of confession or solitude constitute the universal coordinates on which the edifices of the writer's soul are founded. These memoirs beautify Romanian literature by giving it uniqueness and depth, and the spaces within which the writer's emotions and experiences pulsate deserve to be taken out of exegetical anonymity and hermeneutically validated, since these
spaces are not simply places dissipated on the pages of the writer's reminiscences, but images of the selfconcentrated symbolically in places with deep resonances in the soul and mind of the thinker.
