Abstract

The extensive work of Michel Butor is based on two main pillars, namely, the intercultural dialogue
that is the source of all his writing, and traveling that transforms this work and shapes it into a splendid
written living expression which is in a constant quest for the Other. That is what makes Butor an author who
promotes intercultural understanding. His many works, from his autobiography to collaboration with artists,
to places, countries, monuments and books-objects, will be always seen as encounters where difference and
diversity flourish.
