Abstract

Orthografia sau dreapta scrisoare pentru îndreptarea scriitorilor limbii româneşti was written at the end of 18th century and the beginning of the 19th and this fact makes it easy to read. When it comes to Loga’s Orthografia and the lexical particularities, we can say that it is varied. Apart from the common language, dialect, neologisms and ways of enriching the language by assigning new meanings, derivatives formed within the language and borrowings. In this paper we shall try to make an inventory of borrowed words and comment upon their etimology. One can easily notice that, besides the presence of a large number of borrowings from Latin, a preference for words which have their roots in the Mosaic language, Modern Greek, Bulgarian, Medieval Latin, German etc., is also quite obvious. The text is remarkable in its ease in the use of language, ease in utterance that the author posses, thus giving him the possibility to construct a new grammatical terminology filled with assigned new meanings that are much more accessible to the large masses. He also succeeds in defining the newly introduced terms and explains them clearly and concisely thus adding the neological term as well, which usually has Latin roots.
