SOME PERSPECTIVES ON THE ROMANIAN DETECTIVE NOVEL
Abstract
Deeply imperfect, like any object of human creation, classifications,
standards, limitations and reports have been sought for literature since ancient
times, in an approach intended - according to an aesthetic principle developed by a
specialized elite -, to demarcate value from non-value. One of the most popular
genres - in contemporaneity -, with a considerable number of sympathizers,
detective writing has not always enjoyed critical approval. The 19th century
introduction of the detective novel as an independent genre is received with
suspicion, especially by literary "high society". On the other hand, the public receives
it with a frenzy, the stories of crimes, clues, villains and mysteries being captivating
for the readers.
