AN ASPECT OF THE LINGUISTIC GLOBALIZATION:
THE LANGUAGE OF GAMERS
Abstract
Currently, video games have become a phenomenon with major
implications on languages and their dynamics. On the one hand, it leads to the
formation of a new specialized language and, on the other hand, it facilitates new
linguistic influences of English in particular, which seems to constitute a common
language for the gaming community around the world. The present study is part of
a wider research, which aims at investigating this type of language, carried out
within the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest.
