THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CULTURAL PRESS IN THE EVOLUTION OF THE ROMANIAN CULTURE
Abstract
The cultural press is a special type of press, with a target audience,
demanding and with a superior intellectual training, characterized by a much
broader and expressive writing, dealing with special themes and having a greater
journalistic freedom. In the work of Fănuș Neagu, publicist writing occupies an
important place and is studied as such. Fănuș Neagu was one of the great storytellers of Romanian literature, an exceptional novelist, inspired by the peasant
world, but also by the specifics of life. In his journalistic work, as in his fiction, he
does nothing but create life, atmosphere, characters, analyze conflicts, deal with
literary themes and motifs and even project a certain political atmosphere in his
texts. This is probably why the literary critic and his good friend Eugen Simion
admires him, considering him and graciously calling him "the luck of the
Romanian language". A special place is occupied by the journalistic prose, where
Fănuș Neagu delights readers with his talent as a great artist. His articles
published in various publications have been collected in volumes such as
"Insomnii de mătase", "Poduri prăbușite", in which he approaches a style close to
fiction. In these works, the author skillfully transforms simple everyday facts into
magical events. He presents the events in a critical manner, sometimes rhetorical,
the author proving to be a psychologist, juggling with various clichÈs imposed by
the communist regime and censorship, but keeping his authentic style full of verve
and humor.
