Abstract

The lexicon of the Romanian language was considerably influenced by
the Greek and Turkish languages. In order to find proper examples, we choose the
novel entitled “O sutã de ani de zile la Porṭile Orientului” by Ioan Groṣan and Ion
Barbu’s poem “Nastratin Hogea la Isarlâk”. The stylistic role of Greek and Turkish
words is to outline the Balkan and oriental atmosphere, thus the text becomes a
linguistic performance.
