Abstract

In this article, we analyze the etymological structure of the Romanian terminology for a
forest and the overall picture looks as follows: inherited words (Latin, substratum), words borrowed from Slavic languages (Old Slavic, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Croatian, Ruthenian, Russian), words borrowed from other languages (Hungarian, Turkish, German, Modern Latin), words with unknown or uncertain etymology.
