Abstract
In the current context, when multilingualism is stated as a value that all languages are
equally valuable as modes of communication and expression opening new opportunities from
professional and general points of view, teaching and learninga language is a means of
communication that acquires a special significance. To master a language means to be able to
participate in the process of oral and written communication in it and to solve various problems in daily and professional life by means of it. When addressing the concept of communication, we mean first of all its oral aspect which confirms the status of pronunciation as being of primary importance in the system of language compartments. In order to be taught consciously, it is necessary to apply a comparative and contastive analysis of the studied units with their native-language counterparts as a teaching approach. Although information is the starting point of language teaching, it is not a goal in itself, but constitutes prerequisites for further forming and developing communicative competences. Thus, the information is converted into knowledge through logical understanding, the latter is transformed into abilities by means of practical application, the abilities, in turn, are converted into skills through automation. In this context, this paper presents contributions to the didactic study of compound consonantal monophonemic units (based on the material of English as compared to Romanian) by examining the way from linguistic information to language practice.
