Abstract

Conducting polymers (CPs) have been under extensive research and development during the past decades due to their inherent electric conductivity. Responsive to electrical fields and stimuli, they are suitable for numerous biological and medical applications. Hence, an attempt has been made to review the current understanding of conductive materials regarding both synthesis and utilization outlining biocatalytic pathways. In this paper, perspectives for modification and design along with appliance as biomaterial have been presented for polypyrrole as it is one of the most studied CPs.
