Abstract

The present study is an overview of the recent history of the Diocese of Lower Danube (1990- 2015). This period, which is the pasturing of His Eminence Archbishop dr.Casian at the Lower Danube, is ennobled by spiritual and very special events: pilgrimages with the relics of saints, visits of some ecclesiastical and cultural personalities from the country and abroad, sanctification of churches , Symposiums and of national and international Theology Congresses. Among these, the events with the widest participation of Christians are pilgrimages. This summary brings in front of the reader’s eyes these events, in a kind of “a hagiographic film of the Lower Danube” starting with 1992 – the bringing of the wood of the Holy Cross and ending in 2014 – the bringing of the relics of the Holy Martyrs Brâncoveni, by His Beatitude Daniel of Romania.
