Abstract

During the year dedicated to St. John Chrysostom in Romanian Orthodox Church, we can speak about the multiple spiritual connections which the brilliant Antiochian bishop had in our area of the Lower Danube. As an Archbishop of Constantinople, shepherding in the city – the capital of the Byzantine Empire, St. John Chrysostom could have an objective look and permanent news about the situation of the Christian communities throughout the empire. This gave him the opportunity to take important decisions to help, to support and to encourage dioceses, individuals or Christian actions, which sometimes were very far away. The study aims to show these links of St. John with the Lower Danube.
