Abstract

During the last year, the pandemic caught the attention of authorities,
press and common people, around us the key words in any discussion being isolation
and quarantine, loneliness and sadness, fear and/or death. Artists and people of culture
from around the world succeeded in reflecting the spirit of those extremely hard
times, through many masterpieces that mirror all the facets of a world in decline. In
the last couple of months, some songs broadcasted on the radio, on YouTube or on
other social media platforms, become a starting point in the exploration of a specific
type of lexis, in French language classes. Pierre Perret and teachers from middle
school and high school from France (like Audrey and Thomas Guillot, ChloÈ
Fernandez and Lison Mer) share a special interest interest for a lexical-semantic field
that can start a compelling analysis through captivating activities in the
learning/teaching French language as a foreign language. This paper introduces a
collection of words used throughout the pandemic with the purpose of creating a
pedagogical approach to absorbing the lexical elements from Pierre Perret's song,
Les confinis.
